Hiroshima
Time for reflection in Hiroshima

Hiroshima
Day 12
We woke up early, packed up our case and ordered an uber to get us back to Kyoto station. The uber cost around £9 and was a stress free way of getting back to the station with our cases. We then jumped on a shinkansen to Hiroshima.
When we arrived at Hiroshima, we located the welcome desk which our hotel had recommended. We left our baggage to be delivered to our hotel later that day, the total cost was 1000 yen (around £7). We were then free to explore Hiroshima without our bags. By this point, we were starving and tried a café at the station itself, called Hoshino Coffee. They pride themselves on hand drip coffee and I have to say, it was amazing. We had a coffee and french toast set for 650 yen and it was incredible. Would absolutely recommend making a stop for breakfast.
After we ate, we navigated to the south exit of the station and caught one of Hiroshima’s trams, a flat rate fare of 190 yen. Again, the trams all have a change box. We got off at the atomic dome and like many others, took in this beautiful building and its meaning. We then walked on to the Hiroshima Peace Museum. It was an incredibly hard journey round, but incredibly important. We then also spent some time walking through the gardens and monuments such as the children’s peace memorial.
Early afternoon, we took a tram to our hotel which was based near Hiroshima port. After a hectic week, we wanted to make full use of our 4 star hotel and unwind a little. We checked in and went up to our room to find the most spectacular sea view - absolutely stunning. We ate Hiroshima speciality Okonomiyaki - a savoury filled pancake and hit happy hour at the hotel for 50% off drinks. It was just what we needed, and we spent some time planning our final couple of days in Japan.
